A little information: Onyx is what is known as a Royal Guard. Kieran is a Guardian.
Royal Guards protect the entire Royal family, and traditionally, there was only one. As the Delphin Empire grew, the Royal Guard took on managing security around the royal estate, then eventually the city.
Guardians existed prior to Royal Guards. They were charged with protecting a single delphin. It wasn't uncommon for the two to develop a romantic relationship. Not recommended, but happened.
Despite Guardians having been around longer, they answer to Royal Guards, in the necessary places. While a Duke or Duchess would have a Guardian that answered to Royal Guard, Onyx in this case, here he and Kieran are on the same level.
Also: Multiple partners and non-het relationships are extremely common and accepted. I think of all my characters, I have one, MAYBE 2, that are straight. Basically: everyone queer af. Kinda like the writer. :V
Fact time: This comic is the first version to have the new months listed. I do have everything mapped out, as for the time line.
